LONGi announces RE100 roadmap towards green energy transition

China-based solar tech company, LONGi Green Energy Technology Co. has recently revealed its 8-year roadmap to transform its global operations into 100% renewable energy by 2028. LONGI green, which is the world's biggest producer of mono-crystalline PV products, introduced this roadmap at Shanghai’s 14th SNEC PV Power EXPO.

As per the roadmap, LONGi is set to attain 70% renewable electricity use by 2027 and will ultimately touch 100% within the end of 2028. Earlier in 2019, the company had consumed 189,243,000 kWh of power globally, out of which 47.14% came from renewable sources.

Over the coming 8 years, LONGi Group would adhere to a 5-stage roadmap that includes solid actions such as building new plants that have access to clean energy, enhancing energy use efficiency among its facilities both in and outside China, prioritizing green electricity use and developing more PV power stations for itself.

LONGi is renowned for manufacturing high-quality PV products and delivering smart solar power technology solutions. The company’s product offering ranges from solar power systems to components like cells, modules, wafers, and PV solar power equipment. As of 2019, the company had annual revenue of over USD 4.65 billion and a global asset of nearly USD 8.38 billion.

Speaking on the move, Mr. Zhong Baoshen, Chairman, LONGi Group, said that the company is proud to reveal its RE100 roadmap geared towards attaining 100% renewable energy use. LONGi Group, as a market leader in solar technology and manufacturing, will closely work with its partners and the Climate Group to accomplish this green commitment.

According to Mr. Li Zhenguo, President and Founder, LONGi Group, with this process, the company would be able to fully influence its customers as well as its supply chain partners by accomplishing the RE100 initiative. LONGi will become an example that encourages other industries that intend to shift to green energy.
