Itron closes deal with Accell to strengthen footprint in Latin America

Itron Inc., the U.S based technology company that offers services and products on energy and water resources management, has reportedly closed an agreement with Accell aimed at strengthening its footprint in the Latin America grid market.

According to sources, the agreement has allowed Accell to become a lead distributor of Itron for the Latin America region, giving access to Itron’s service portfolio, including analytics, smart cities, and outcomes offerings, and networked solutions.

By collaborating with Accell, Itron strengthens its strategy to improve the flexibility to capitalize on several opportunities in the region. With an extreme focus on Latin America with an in-region team, Accell is well-positioned to serve partners, customers, and offer a new level of success in the region.

Sources cite that Accell will also offer local support for customers and products. All of Itron’s Latin American employees and facilities will become part of Accell. However, few Mexico-based staff will remain supportive of the company’s operations in Mexico.

Itron will complete a transition over months to facilitate a smooth handoff of technical and product support, product training, and customer relationships.

Speaking on the partnership, Mark de Vere White, senior Vice President of Customer & Market Experience at Itron, said that Latin America is a vital and strategic region, and this partnership gives Accell and Itron to maximize the market opportunity in the region.

It is a win-win situation for both companies with Accell offering the sensory regional focus and Itron delivering the product portfolio to aid Accell to optimize the business model, he said, adding that both companies will be well-positioned to accelerate customer success in Latin America.

For the record, Itron is a technology company that equips cities with reliable, safe, and secure infrastructure solutions. The company’s services including smart networks, software, meters, and sensors are aiding its customers to manage gas, electricity, and water resources for people they serve.
