ZOLL plans to expand ventilator production capacity to 10k per month

An Asahi Kasei Group company, ZOLL Medical Corporation, which is a leading developer of medical devices and software solutions recently announced plans to expand its ventilator production volume by 25-fold. Apparently, the company will increase the manufacturing capacity to 10,000 ventilators per month in an effort to tackle the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.

Reportedly, ZOLL has reached out to its supply base, most of which is located in the U.S. to register their support in meeting the heavy demand for ventilators.

For the record, ventilators offered by ZOLL Medical Corporation are equipped with the most superior internal filtration system to keep the interior airway free of contamination, which not only aids patients but providers as well while operating in a hazardous environment.

These ventilators can be used with viral/bacterial filters, biological/chemical filters, as well as moisture and heat exchanging filters to further protect providers and patients.

Jon Rennert, Chief Executive Officer, ZOLL, was reported to state that as the team is striving to meet the increased demand, the company is fortified with a state-of-the-art factory and highly trained workforce and they are all set to expand the supply base as necessary.

The company has not only received unsolicited offers of help from medical companies, but from various industries including information technology, aerospace and automotive. Rennert added saying that the company is looking forward to working with the United States Government as well as private industry collaborators to cater to the urgent need.

For more than ten years, ventilators offered by ZOLL have remained the preferred transport ventilator for the U.S. Department of Defense. The product design is proven to be rugged, portable, safe, easy to use and reliable in challenging environments.

Rennert also said that ventilators are intricate, integrated medical devices that consist of hundreds of individually tested parts. The company has been focused upon building the highest-quality portable ventilators and now the focus will be on expanding the production volume.
