J-POWER USA Development Co., Ltd., Avondale Solar, Solar Plus Development, and AP Solar Holdings (a joint venture company of Avondale & Plus) have reportedly reached an agreement. As per the agreement, these companies will jointly develop 400 megawatts alternating current (MWac) solar project, Charger Solar, which is located in Refugio County, Texas.

Texas has been consistently advancing as the best solar resource in the United States, in addition to its rapidly increasing economy. Customers and municipalities in the state are accelerating their reliance on clean or renewable energy as the old coal facilities are becoming offline.

The recent Charger Solar project is strategically situated, located at an equal distance to Houston and San Antonio. These cities have been consistently recording a high energy demand. The project is well-positioned to offer accessible and clean energy to its local communities.

J-POWER USA Development as well as its affiliates are currently interested in 12 power generating facilities in the United States. These facilities have a total capacity of over 6,500-MW.

As per the statement made by CEO & President of J-POWER USA, Mark Condon, the company strategizes on ensuring a low carbon footprint through various innovative clean energy solutions. The recent collaboration announcement for the Charger Solar project also highlights the expansion of its relationship with AP Solar. The two companies have also partnered for the development of a 350-MWac solar project, Red Tailed Hawk, which is located in Wharton County, Texas.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of AP Solar, Trevor Nash, the company is thrilled to partner with J-POWER USA Development for the Charger Solar project, which is an addition to their joint development of the Red Tailed Hawk project. This solar project is optimally located to offer power to both Houston Zones and South of ERCOT.
