Google unveils portal to provide the latest COVID-19 information in US

Google has recently launched a portal in the U.S. focused on providing people the most up-to-date guidance and direction on COVID-19, on account of still-rising death toll across the country. It unveiled Google.com/covid19 that consists of links as well as resources for people seeking information on testing, developments and symptoms.

Apparently, the portal is currently in English and is expected to be released in other languages in different nations soon.

Google stated that COVID-19 had been the most common topic that was looked up by people in 2020. The company wanted to link all the users to different resources from both national and local health authorities.

They would also be providing access to all the Twitter accounts of both health and civic groups that will keep the people well-informed about Tapping in resources that shall be given by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization. The portal will also be offering prevention and safety tips along with information on prevention and education.

Product Manager at Google, Emily Moxley said that the new format helps organize all the search results page in order to help all the people navigate resources and information easily. It will also ease the possibility of adding information over a period of time as it becomes available.

Moxley further added that as coronavirus has become a challenge in several communities, the authorities across the world will be developing new tools and guidance to address the pandemic. Google will keep working to seek opportunities to be able to connect people with major information sources that could help in keeping their families, communities and even themselves safe.

According to reliable sources, Google had been planning for a launch on March 16, however, it was delayed as there were rapid changes in national and local guidance.
